Caonical On Thursday announced the availability of Skype as a Snap file, 

the universal linux app packaging format. The release means that skype can 

deliver its communication service to wider range of linux users in world, not just

those who run Canonical Ubuntu Linux distribution.

What is Skype : 

Skype is a Microsoft product, its an application that lets users make video

call and voice call, and send files as well as messages also.

The major benefit is Skype to Skype calls are free anywhere in the world.

and some more additional features like following voicemail, text SMS or calls 

carry a cost.

Skype as a Snap file : 

Releasing Skype as Snap file ensures Linux users automatically will receive

that latest version upon release. In addition, the Snap rollback feature will let 

users revert to the previous working version in the event of bug.

What it Does ?

In this Skype Application works natively all linux distributions that supports

Snaps, like Linux mint, Debian, Arch Linux, Opensuse, and Ubuntu.

This desktop application is compatible across a wide range of linux platforms,

and to a broad range of devices and millions of linux users.

Note : Snap Packages do not work with all Linux distros, but the great majority

of them support Snap file installations.

Thousands of Snap file have been launched from 2016, Snap file are 

containerized software packages designed to work securely within the any

Linux environment across the desktop users.


How it Works ?

The automatic updating system polls the Snapcraft servers four

times per day to check on availability of any updates. If there is any update 

means, user's system will pull them down and automatically install them.

Users no longer have to worry about that version is running.

It is not a manual process on the end user's system. user can trust that the

The snapcraft platform lets Microsoft have one binary file that
